Story: How Adam and Eve Met

One breezy, hot day in the middle of the desert, there was a boy named Adam who was left all alone with nothing but his name. He knew nothing of what was about to be ahead of him, or even how to handle it. Adam looked around in such confusion because he had no idea where he was or how he had gotten there; all he knew was his name. As he sat and pondered everything that was happening around him, he finally got the urge to go exploring. Little did he know that he was created on purpose; to find his purpose in life, and recreate mankind. Adam was created as simple as simple could get. He had little to no muscles, he was only about 5 feet and 5 inches tall, and he only knew simple English.

Adam wondered around for a few hours, and eventually fell extremely hungry. Not knowing how to cook or catch anything to eat, he started to brainstorm ideas of what to eat and how to catch it. After many trials and errors of cooking things that seemed to be edible, he finally figured out what was good to eat, and what was bad for him.

Adam struggled for many days. He cooked what food he could and picked what fruit was available, but only found enough to keep him somewhat satisfied. Adam realized how lonely he was becoming and still was not truly happy. He needed a companion, and didn’t even know it. Help was needed for harvesting crops and fruits, killing game for meat, making shelter, and simply someone for company. So he decided to start his journey to a new part of this world…

Adam hiked mountains and swam through lakes and stumbled upon a beautiful rainforest which was rich with vegetables, fruits, and fresh water. He decided this was the place to set up camp for a while.

After finding a comfortable place that was shaded and had plenty of food, he decided to walk around and find stuff that could further his journey. Although what he didn’t know was that he was intruding on someone else’s land… Eve had put a lot of thought into her life so far and did not want what she had made to be ruined, so she made plenty of weapons for cases like this. She noticed someone walking through her forest that she had never seen before. For as far as Eve knew, she was the only human on earth. She began shooting arrows towards Adam in hopes it would scare him off her land. Adam had no idea what was shooting towards him, so with fear running through him, he ran in circles terrified of what was happening to him. Because he was not fighting back, and Eve did not feel threatened, she slowly made her way towards this strange human that was running in circles.

After calming him down and realizing he was of no threat, she spoke to him the best she could to understand what he was and where he had been. After the both of these humans felt safe around each other, they began to start this journey of life together. Both of them knew different things to help get them through, which led to the both of them teaching each other everything. They began making shelters together and learning off one another to make their lives better. Eventually the two realized why they were the only ones on earth and how to change that. They figured out life together and made small adjustments little by little to make earth a habitable place to live.

Adam and Eve

Author's Note:
This story was based on the original story of Adam and Eve. I based the beginning of the story on how Adam was created, and went from there. Instead of the two already being together, I wanted to change it on how they would have met in real life and what would have actually happened if they realized they were the only two people on earth.

  1. Lauren, I really liked how you made this whole situation a lot more realistic! It makes more sense (and makes for a better plot line) that Adam and Eve started apart and kinda just bumped into each other. It was also cute that you portrayed Adam as completely lost and helpless while Eve had a nice structured system that she didn't want infringed upon (I would have written the same scenario honestly haha). Wow, can you imagine how weird it must have been to meet another human being for the first time?! You did a good job of conveying that. I feel like this whole story was one big metaphor for the dating world. You do fine on your own but you get lonely. Then you just wander listlessly until you find someone who compliments you and together you make a great team. Just how Adam and Eve were able to survive while apart, but when they were together, they thrived. I wonder what would happen if you followed their story further? Maybe go into the story of the serpent and temptation (kind of like a metaphor for wanting to stray in a relationship)? Something interesting to consider!

  2. Lauren, I loved how you said that Adam was left alone with nothing but his name. That was a really well-written way to put that he had nothing. I also really liked the twist, which was that Adam and Eve weren't together. I've always wondered how they figured out what to eat and build shelter and communicate, so I thought what you created was fun. Maybe it was just trial and error! Being a girl, I thought it was funny that Eve had it all figured out and could protect herself and Adam was the one who didn't really know what to do. Go Eve! :)

  3. Hey Lauren!

I really liked how realistic you made your story. I became intrigued when you began the story with Adam and Eve in separate locations. I thought that was smart of you so that you can have two different perspectives going on during their upbringing of life on Earth. I think your story was very well written and when describing the setting and tasks at hand I really could see your imagery. I wonder what would happen if Adam or Eve would run into another character before they met each other. Maybe it could be a hiccup or obstacle Adam could face when venturing off to a different part of the world. What if Eve already had an evil creature (rabbit, snake, or whatever) that was with her before Adam found her and later in the story Adam has to help her realize how parasitic the relationship is? That would be something you could continue writing about! Other than that, awesome story!

  4. Hey Lauren,
I enjoyed reading your story. I thought it was interesting to see how Adam and Eve met. I liked how you described in details where Adam was in the beginning and how he was confused. I wonder where he was before though or how he got there? (Just a random thought) I also liked how he learned things on his own and survived. It was definitely fate how Adam and Eve met because this world is so huge and they just happened to stumble upon one another. Overall, great story!

  5. Hi Lauren!

What a great story! I like how you gave your own twist to such a classic and well known story for most people. I also like the line "Adam who was left alone with nothing but his name". That was a great attention grabber and gave it a wow factor. It let me really imagine this story and try and imagine if I was in an unfamiliar place only knowing my name. Imagining the story and relating it back to myself made it easier to follow. I liked how Adam and Eve were separate and then you narrated how to finally met. What if Adam and Eve both spoke different languages? That would add a whole new twist to your story. They would both realize that they may be the only people on Earth at that time but they are completely different. It would open up the diversity factor that is all around the world. I wonder how Adam and Eve would overcome the language barrier in order to work together to survive. That could be something you think about if you decide to edit or add to your story. Overall, really great story and narration!

  6. Hey Lauren!
I really liked how much you personified Adam in the beginning of your story. When reading the story of Adam and Eve in the Bible, you think of them as characters, not actual human beings, so hearing of him getting hungry and having to hike and things like that made him even more realistic to me! Great job!

  7. The story was very interesting considering how different this is to the original. It was like a gender role switch. Adam was simple and weaker than Eve. I liked how Eve was very clever to make weapons. Adam running in circles definitely supported that he was simple. You were very creative in creating this idea. Aside from this, the story was bittersweet. They found each other, but they were the only people in the world.
